Thumbs up One for the ladies! (Wetsuit Recommendation)

Hi People....

Just thought I'd put a post on here for anyone who might be on the lookout for a new wetsuit. I went to LIDS at the weekend and was on the lookout for a 3mm full suit. I was getting a bit dispondent as I couldn't find what I was looking for. At the moment I wear a full 5mm from Scubapro and was looking for something of similar quality but in 3mm.

Anyway at the show my mate NeilM pointed me in the direction of 'Waterproof' who do both wetsuits and drysuits. I had walked past this stand but hadn't looked at the wetsuits as they were displayed on mannequins and looked alot more expensive than the £100 approx I wanted to pay (looked more on par with the Scubapro everflex in terms of their quality).

Anyway I tried one on and to say I was impressed was an understatement. The suit fits so well it could almost be made to measure...it is soooo comfortable. When I took the suit back to the DD stand Mrs Mares had a look at it and went off to try one on on my recommendation too. She is also now the proud owner of a full 3mm woman's fit! I should be on commission

Of course then hubbie got wind of it and tried the men's fit one on and just had to buy one for himself too...

So big up to 'Waterproof' for producing the best fitting and comfortable wetsuit I have had the opportunity to try on. Just for reference SDS are official suppliers for them as I don't know if they sell direct to the public (we had to go to the SDS stall at LIDS as they weren't able to sell us them directly). They came out at £100 a piece which I thought wasn't bad for the quality of the construction and the excellent fit.

Just got to wait until September to get them wet now.....!!!!

Cheers Scubachick

It just so happens I am after a new wetsuit, thanks for the recommendation.

Do they do them in a "does my bum look big in this?" "yes it does, because you have a big bum" fit?

I shall despatch myself off to SDS as soon as I can feasibly skive off work

Hopefully they might hold the LIDS prices on them too.

Sue

I'm not sure about this but the bum area does have a very stretchy panel built in which stretches with you if you know what I mean so if your bum is a bigger dress size than the rest of you it's not such a big problem...

Hope you manage to get one at dive show price if you decide to get one...tell them that Kathy (from the Daiving Daisy stand at the dive shows)sent you

I have to admit that the Waterproof suits that I've seen look the business. When I need a new one it'll definitely be on the shortlist.

One for the men too!

I've had one of their 5mm suits for a couple of years and it's very good. The seals are very long (about six inches) and if you turn them in on themselves (like a neoprene neck seal) then they are very watertight - I exit the water with what appears to be swollen ankles, and when I let the water out it feels as if I have had a childish accident, as the water is at blood temperature.

Later,
Janos

I can only second what Kathy has said. They actually make you feel that you had it made to measure, it fitted like a glove. I'll be getting mine wet in May, so i'll let you know how it felt.

I didn't have a good experience when trying on waterproof wetsuits a couple of years back. I found that I couldn't get them up over my calves, and ripped all the skin off my knuckles trying to do so. Body Glove were the best fit for me, but then I'm small and a weird shape...

I don't know if you have Henderson hyperstretch suits in the UK, but my female dive buddies have had good success with these as the material is fairly forgiving, even with a fit that is not quite perfect. The downside is that the material pills more easily.

For a wetsuit I really wouldn't bother with Scubapro, Mares, or any diving make.
I'd get one made by Ripcurl, Billabong, Alder or Salomon.
These suits are designed for surfing, rather than diving, but if you want flex then the Ripcurl Elasto or Billabong suits are by far the best IMO.

This one looks a wee bit masculine for my liking.
