Question Semi-dry in the Cape in July?

I've managed to convince my sister's fella to have a dip in the UK (he did AOW down under in January). He has never used a drysuit before and doesn't have kit. I notice you can hire a full set of kit from Capenwray that includes a semi-dry.

I know a drysuit would be ideal (I'll be in one ), but then there's the added complication of how to get him familiar with a drysuit so that he could hire one.

So, the question is would a semi be ok for a couple of dives in the Cape in July?

More than acceptable, once you over the initial 'water just ran down my back/ hit my b***s' phase Last week it was 13.5 degrees, so the temp won't be an issue ....

No problem at this time of year, I taught for a full day earlier this year at Capers in a Seamansub semi dry when it was 6 degrees. Now it is tropical.

IMHO he'll be fine in a semi in temps over 10/11C - might depend on how much he feels the cold if the dive is a longish one though

Thumbs up

Thanks folks, looks like we have a plan then!

...and the best bit is, if it turns out to be a bad idea - it's not me that'll be cold
