Zip replacement on drysuit.

Well, after almost six years of trusted service the zip on my drysuit finally went this weekend. I've never had to replace it before so, before I send it straight to Northern Diver, does anyone have any recommendations for someone in the Manchester area who is quick, reliable and cheap?

My zip went this morning too. It was beginning to look like they'd have to cut me out of my suit, as nobody could get it to move more than two inches, but one of the guys on the boat had a pair of pliers.
Mines an otter suit so I'll be taking mine back to them.

Mark

I'd recommend Protec (01516391390) who are in Birkenhead if remember right, not sure if thats close enough to Manchester for you, they good value and will generally do repairs the same day/whilst you wait.

I just so happen to have the Beaver catalogue here in front of me with correct page open. They list their prices as replace or fit front zip £24.00 with seal its £32.00 ................replace or fit back zip £27.00 with seal £32.00. For some reason I thought it costs loads more then that?

Does seem cheaper than I thought. Perhaps this is fitting cost only not including the actual zip

I have just re read the page and it did not say zip extra or anything like that. I must admit I was always told its about £100 to replace a zip.

Beavers number is 01484 512354 might be best to clarify that price. I was there yesterday and found Chris really helpful.

Thumbs up Predator

Speak to Dennis at Predator and he will have your suit fixed in less than 5 days or quicker for a few more £s.

I think a heavy duty zip is about £120.

Link at the bottom.
