| Always used balanced. Although sometimes when I have forgotten to undo the screw, as I didn't need to pee, its 'interesting' on the ascent Andy |

| Correct me if i'm wrong please. Balanced - just pee Un balanced - loosen - pee - tighten Im in the market for one myself, there seems to be a big difference in the cost of the two types. Will be interested to see the results of the poll. Stu.

| Unbalanced down to 92m, No probs at all. If you dont pee, you don't touch the valve. If you do pee, you open it.. pee and close it. Tackle squeeze is a myth, the tubing collapses. Cold water inrush is a myth too... Balanced. On any dive you should open it on the ascent to let the gas out.

The real difference is that one relies on the softness of the consumables (and the flesh) to stay equalised and the other on one way valves. I've never had any sensation of 'squeeze' down to 60m but I don't want bits to go wrong and leak or, more seriously, block. Not being able to go could be seriously bad news. I've done kidney stones and I know what back-pressure feels like and you really don't want to go there. |

| Balanced.... Never used unbalanced so can't compare. Never had any issues with balanced in 00's of dives. Bob |

| Balanced as they have redundancy (check valve & bolt), don't fancy my gizzards being distributed on the sea bed either (I know its a myth)

| Unbalanced! Only problem I had was the psycological one of letting loose in a drysuit. Mind you I could never do it in a wet suit either! Regards Midnight
