Which (membrane) Drysuit ??

I'm in the market for a new suit. My exisitng Bodyglove neoprene is ok but bleedin' heavy and hard to get on. As I'm doing a dive trip to New Zealand next year I figure its time to get some thing lighter.

I see from this forum that Otter Britannics are well supported so here's my choice at present-

Otter Britannic ( is the telescopic bit worth having )?

Gates VSN ( again has lots of fans ) or

Whites drysuits ( as sold by SDS)- looks very good but so it should be at about £1100 !!

Of course I'm open to other suggestions but not neoprene this time.

Thanks all

All good mentions so far.

Otter Brittanic - lots of fans so must be good.

Gates VSN - Ditto above.

Whites - bit unknown and pricey but those who have em say they're the mutts.

DUI - Sometimes silly money but those who get a good one won't use anything else.

Polar Bears - the Explorer is similar to the telescopic Brittanic and I like mine a lot. Good material and design and good support. They also do a good 400 thinsulate if you can't afford the DUI's.

Disclaimer, I'm only bigging up the PB because it's what I know best....so there

Gates/ Hunter VSN. Not the cheapest, but bulletproof. Thinking of cooking up some thermite to make a hole in mine for a p valve.

Thumbs up Dui

Umm DUI - nice

Umm DUI - ouch (bank balance)

Got mine from SDS before DUI gave the importer/wholeseller jobbie to Stoney Cove - they were alot cheaper then

Have the front loading neoprene one - same thickness as a membrane - needs a thinsulate (weezle in my case)

Very flexible, hopefully hard wearing (2 yrs old) and took lots of weight off my belt - now twin 12s, CD wing, PO backplate = negatively buoyant in freshwater and only need 2kgs in the sea
