Talking Apollo wrist bio-seals

Just arrived in my in-tray at work.

ooh they are weird, they stick together, in fact they seem to stick to everything. But then they don't. It's like they have stickiness but not stickingness.

Tried them on and they look like they might prevent my cold wet forearm syndrome

Either that or I will have to go through with my new collagen idea. I reckon that you could inject a ring of collagen around your wrists (and neck) which the latey drysuit seals could then seal against. Or just eat lots of cake.

I had an Apollo suit when I lived in the US, lovely it was too, sorry I flogged it. It had an early version of the slippery seals, they were great and from what I remember surprisingly tough.

they are very good - come in wrist and neck form

they do stop 'hangmans neck' if you have a latex seal.. also if you're planning a dive and discover that your seal is looking a little tired, you can safely trim a little off the seal and place this underneath. Dive(s) saved.

a little fiddly to work with though, you will need two people yo put on the neck seal version.. you do need to place them back in their little tub to keep them clean and moist..

These do feel great (strangely tacky...) but they seem to digest latex seals rather rapidly! The better half has the neck seal and thinks that it is great but will need the drysuit seal replaced fairly soon (and I think she's only used it a few times).

Steve,

I would think so.. they go under the seal and are about (from memory) 2 inches/ 5cm wide (Troc can you confirm?)

I used them with my old suit in Scapa for a week as the wrists were a bit worn out. This was Neoprene wrist seals. They worked perfectly, never managed to get the neck seal on though (kept tucking it under the wrong chin , however a few of my club use them with their latex seals and swear by them.
