| This one's kinda got me (well my bro too actually) puzzled. Been dry-suit diving a while now, no probs but after returning from Egypt, every dive we've done back in the UK (puddle dives) have resulted in a sore neck after removing the suit. First dive ain't that bad, but after the 2nd 60+min dive, when you pull your head out the neck-seal, hey presto, a sore neck where the seal was (and a lovely red mark to boot). Has anyone else had this problem, is there a solution. The fact that we have both started to suffer the same fate is bizzare. Both have same suits (Azdry) with similar amount of dives on em. Saw some guy at Capers today applying dive lube (ooo, err missus Any advice useful, cheers! Mark.

| There are several threas on this - onein the last week, so have a search, but what worked for me was washing the seal and my neck between dives and taking it off if possible.

| Yes they are membrane suits but as for the alergy, wouldn't this have been apparent from the start and not just recently, or does latex age changing its characteristics? Lube sounds interesting, has anyone done a "CESA-ARSE" (Controlled Emergency Swimming Asscent and Rapid Suit Exit) before?

| Sorry Mark, but that's latex neck seals for you. Sometimes I get away with it, sometimes I don't. Last weekend I was out and there were loads of Jellyfish, I was sure I was stung around the throat when I was ascending. Nope just my neck seal. Someone else recommended to use a particular barrier cream to stop it. I did try that, but I still get a 'cut throat'. A while ago, I got it really bad and when I went into work on Monday I got a lot of questions. I tried telling them that I was wrestling with a giant octopus in the water and it grabbed me round the neck and pulled me down. Though, no-one believed me and ask if I had been in a fight that someone had tried to strangle me. Funny how in Belfast people will believe that someone had tried to garrote you before they would believe an octopus had gotten you when you were diving. And yes there are octopus in these waters. Some people have used a Bio Neck Seal thingy (Scroll about half way down the page). Others have changed to a neoprene neck seal. Maybe someone else will post with an easy way to avoid it. .

| You all posted while I was typing - yes I am slow at typing. I just read the other thread, so I will give the KY a go. I use it to remove the seals from my wrists at the end of the day anyway. Interesting about the salt crystal thing. I felt it was something abrasive getting caught in the edge of the seal like sand or other water borne silty stuff. The burn mark i get is alway just at and above the top of the seal. .
