semi a bit small?

just bought a semi for next to nothing on ebay but its what you may call "a bit snug" its taken me nearly 20-25 mins to get the blasted thing on and that was in the shower! its not TOO tight but its definitely not perfect. how tight do you think that it can be before its too small to dive with?

hope anyone can help...im hoping i can get by with this one until i have enough money to buy a full on dry suit, after all it is my 21st tomorrow so hopefully ill have lots of pennies to put towards one.

hope everyone is ok,
Aimz xx

Hi Aimz

I'd say mine's snug but 25 minutes...? I can slip into mine (dry) in just a few minutes and the zip needs a little care when being fastened as I have no flap under it to protect my skin so it goes on OK.

Getting it off could take me 25 minutes though

I dived a lot in a semi. Snug is good becuase it seals in the layer of warm water next to your body. A suit which is too loose will constantly flush through with cold water and offer you no thermal protection.

However, too tight may be restricting your breathing and making manouvring difficult. Imagine having to put fins on in it with a set on your back???

Kath

dunno if this is any help but when I tried mine on I basically flexed in every direction I could, touched my toes, crouched down (like I would in a drybag to vent air) and found that although it was snug I could flex easily.

Well if a Semi is too small, then..............

I'll wait for replies from our more 'outstanding' members,

I'm sure this one will be entertaining

(PS If it does feel only "a little tight" it should be OK, Only way to find out is to dive)

Even if you did manage to get it to fit you dont you think it might be a bit pointless?
By the time you get that on and have all of your kit ready your buddies could of had half of a dive done. If you think about it do you really want to spend that amount of time getting ready, if it were me i'd be knackerd after just putting it on. just my 2pence

Come diving with our lot. I know several guys who would happily spend 20 minutes in a shower helping you into your suit.

On a more serious note, get one that fits. Ebay isn't the best place for suits always, it can be a bit of a suit graveyard.

A suit that's too tight in some places can cause problems at best, and be dangerous at worst. If yu take 20 minutes to get in to it I would suggest it's too tight to be any good to you. Stick it back on ebay and get another one.

Of course another way would be to get some photos in the suit and we'll judge it for you [/LETCH]

Digs.

Personally, I find it easier to get a semi dry on when it's dry i.e. not in the shower. If you can't get it on dry, it's no good - sell it on. You are not going to be able to kit up in real life, not unless you expect to don your suit before leaving home every time.

A semi I tried once, but didn't buy was too small for me. i could get it on, but felt like a giant elastic band, as soon as I flexed an arm or leg I was 'sprung' back, though that was a new semi, yours may have lost a little of it's rubber springy elasticity.

I'm just waiting for the pixxys

Great idea digs, always better to judge the git of a suit if you can see the diver in it.

Can you suggest any poses...?
