Question Do I need a new zip?

My zip decided it didn't want to open after doing some dives in Stoney recently, and eventually someone managed to pull it open with brute force.

Probably then I need a new zip... but it seems to open and close ok now, although you can feel when it passes over the suspect tooth. The main problem seems to be the rubber connecting the teeth gave way between two of them, though possible it was a bent tooth and that's just an after effect.

So the question is... as it opens and closes ok should I leave it, or am I just being a cheapskate and ignoring the obvious need for a new zip?

If the latter and anyone knows of a good place to get it repaired in London please let me know .

Thanks,
Ian

If one of the teeth is gone then I would suspect the zip will soon fail simply because that tooth is likely to catch over and over until it breaks away. You could get away with using it for longer as long as you make sure buddies take time and care zipping you up and releasing. Keep it waxed and give it a few goes. If it's dodgy then I'd say look into new zips.

You will probably find that you will have a very slight leak from it, but it may work for a while, as Little Pete said. To be honest, its going to go at some point in the near future, and you just know that it will fail at the worst possible moment, so its probably best to bite the bullet and get it replaced.
Sorry, cos I know from experience that it is expensive!

You need a new zip. Places in London - I got my last one done at Amphibian and would recommend them. Amphibian Sports - Friendliest Scuba Diving and Technical Diving Gas & Equipment shop in London

be warned it won't be cheap though
