As a footnote to this the spare battery turned up yesterday and on the delivery note it states:

"Claims arising from damage or non-delivery must be advised in writing within 3 days of delivery."

Uh-huh... So anyone who complies with the policy can never complain about non-delivery; but as the policy is printed on the delivery note...

Would wearing one of these belts allow you to wear a less bulky undersuit? eg. dropping from a 400g to a 200g?

Mark.

If you were borderline warm enough in a 200g but used a 400g to be sure then yes I think you could quite happily use one of these and be very comfortable. However if you were the other end of the spectrum and were borderline in a 400g then dropping to a 200g and one of these would be a bad move I think.

They make a noticeable difference but they don't work miracles. I can't feel the heat from the belt when I'm in the water but I am in longer before I start shivering and I warm up quicker when I get out.

As Rob has said, they don't work miracles but they're still damned good and - for £100 - a real no brainer, in my opinion. Being a belt, it clearly won't help keep the extremities warm so if you're hands and feet get cold, buying a heated belt isn't going to help! lol

Having recently sold my trusty O'three RI 2/100, I've been using a friend's rear-entry trilaminate with just the same Xerotherm Artic undersuit I used to use with the O'three. Now without the heated belt, there's absolutely *no way* I would last the 45-mins or so I've been able to handle in cold winter temperatures - and that's scootering which, as we know, doesn't help keep the internal fires burning. Without the belt, I think I'd struggle to handle much more than 30 mins or so...

Bottom line is that if you're struggling to keep your core temperature up then one of these belts will certainly help.

One comment someone made to me about these was that they wouldn't want to rely on them for long deco dives - at least with a thick undersuit you know the battery's not going to die when you're on your stops and leave you cold.

Well indeed. Think of the belt as a compliment to warm undergarments - not an alternative to... (especially true if you happen to get a suit flood!).

Has anyone looked at the original link?

About half way down is a heated belt that look pretty much the same. Product Code: 01-023-G. Not sure if it is, but is still a few quid cheaper at £89.99

Yeah I noticed that, I don't know if it's the same and I already had the belt at that point. Certainly very similar...

I suspect it'll be identical to the Typhoon product so order in confidence!

Hi Rob

I have the full vest and I've had lots of trouble with it

I'm curious ....

do you have an external can which holds the battery and has a long cable which you attach to a connector cabled through your dry suit to the vest?

Thanks Venus
