Not sure about the Typhoon one, but FaMi used to do one like that - so you could share the battery with your umbilical torch, if necessary swap them underwater, or just use it to turn the vest on and off.

Thanks D

I have had 4 battery cans for my vest

1) leaked first time I used it, Typhoon agreed it was a faulty can

2) + 3) leant to me by the rep as they did not have any new ones to give me, broken cable so the vest only turned on if I fiddled with the cable bit that ran into the can

4) first time I used it had the same problem as above

when it works it's great, but when your in currents holding a camera, clinging onto to a rock you don't have a free hand to hold the cable to that you keep a connection

No you don't have an external can. The belt is a neoprene / velcro combo that goes around your waist. It has a pocket for the battery on the side and you just slip the battery into the pocket and switch it on before you zip up your drysuit. 2hrs of warmth from a single charge and it has yet to let me down (done a good couple of hundred dives with it).

If you're interested in seeing it I could potentially nip down to Wraysbury on Weds.

Hi Rob

Thanks for your offer, but it seems I can't get to Wraysbury during day light
I go away for 2 1/2 weeks and forget that it gets dark in te evenings

I've had a look at the vest on the Typhoon website and yes, it is totally different
I'm going to write my stroppy letter over the weekend

i have here a brand new exo2 heated waistcoat, optional battery pack and charger.

this was a gift but i wont actually use it.

i'm looking for £100

blurb from website:
EXO² STORMRIDER Heated Body Warmer
Manufactured using a new, breathable, lightweight, waterproof & windproof fabric called AirXtream. Its body hugging characteristics help the resulting heated garment to look equally stylish on men or women. Indeed the EXO² FabRoc® Heated panel technology is so versatile and robust it can even be hand washed!

The heated panels are located at the upper back, kidney area, chest and front shoulders and maintain a constant 50°C.

The vest is powered by straightforward connection to the motorcycle battery via the supplied loom or from an optional rechargable power pack. (Note: heat operates in kidney area only when using the optional power pack).

Power Requirement - Bodywarmer draws approx. 4.1Amps at full power

Product Code: 01-023-D

Let us know how you get on.... especially with the zip doubling up as a compass

i am going to get the typhoon belt - I have heard lots of good things about it and as I expect to be doing some deeper longer dives this winter, i hope it is going to save me the bulk of the xerotherm arctic.
