Imported post Right, this is one of my pet niggles. Every time we go diving there is a struggle to fit my computer strap over my drysuit, my compass strap (SK7) is naff and a real faff, and watch straps don't seem long enough to fit over either. I have more problem than Caroline because I have longer arms on my undersuit than on my drysuit and hence a bit of bunching at the forearms. How does everyone else cope? Is it really a case of pulling those straps really tight (and risking them popping), do you put adaptors on, or has anyone rigged up a wrist "console" successfully? I am toying with the idea of the latter. Something I mount all the above on and then it is a one-shot thing to mount and demount them to myself. Thinking similar to the slate/computer thing but with the compass and backup watch too. Any thoughts, or shall I just keep on swearing?

Imported post why not just put your computer in the same console as your SPG.

Imported post I don't like the thought of the computer on the end of my hose. When ascending, holding stops I tend to lie with my arms folded under my nose, watching my depth/rate of ascent, and I like the computer on the wrist for that purpose. I currently clip my compass off my waistband, similar to your suggestion, Tim, but it is just something else "dangling" off me, hence wondering about tidying it away next to my computer. Now I have the pony on the rig as well I am starting to realise how much is hanging off, what with knife on waist band, reel and smb off right hip, spg hooked up to waist band, occy clipped up to right shoulder strap, pony up to left shoulder and left hip d-rings, torch in right pocket buy lanyarded to another d-ring. Last thing I want is more decoration!

Imported post Hi, you could replace your compass/computer straps with two loops of bungee - http://www.wkpp.org/images/pina_equip/compass_r.jpeg You should keep your computer/timer on the same wrist/arm that holds your reel (right in my case), so you can read it easily when you acsend and do your stops. Quite logical really. HTH Mark. (Edited by Mark at 2:08 pm on Jan. 8, 2003)

Imported post If you want things wrist mounted have you tried velcro straps?A firm called TEKNA used to do universal velcro straps with sprung stainless buckles(got mine from Diving and Marine Services in Mcr.).To prevent loss get an old sleeve from an old neoprene suit, cut it slightly wider than the width of your compass etc.then cut a hole in it just big enough for the face to show through. This will prevent you losing your bits(oooeerr)if the strap does pop off.A wrist mounted console to be honest would probably be a little bulky and more trouble than it's worth IMHO.Hope this helps,Hobby.

Imported post Hey Lou, Have you considered using bungy cord instead of the straps that come with the units themselves?? A lot of the guys on here use bungy cord for everything from keeping their fins on (sans the original ankle straps), to watches, comapsses and dive computers. Might break your heart to break/trash a perfectly good strap, but you didn't buy the unit for the strap. The other option is, as has been stated above, buy (as I did for my old 'A'clamp set up for use on my single 12l rig) a treble console SPG that contains your contents/pressure gauge, your depth metre and a compass. Being all on the same SPG means that you only ever look to the one place for info, other than the dive computer on your wrist. This any help??

Imported post http://www.cisatlantic.com/trimix/de.../decoslate.htm is worth a look just for inspiration. I keep meaning to put together a wrist slate thing to hold all my instruments, I just haven't got to it yet..
