I just rented a 5mm shortie when I was there a couple of weeks ago (water temp 20-23 deg C). I doubt you'll need more than a full length suit. O3 sometimes have end of season suits going very cheap.

Because it was all on one bill (equipment rental and dives) I can't remember exactly but it was somewhere in the region of £5 - £6 per day for the suit on its' own.

You could always check on the internet and give a store a call. Maltaqua, Aquaventure, Dawn Dives, Mel Dives and many more places out there should be able to help.

I'll probably be in my 7mm in November (but then I'm a big girls blouse) - I'd suggest a long 5mm suit rather than a shortie as the wind will be stronger whcih will make some of the exits more 'interesting', and will protect you from abrasions from the rocks if you get bashed about a bit.

I believe Decathlon do cheap and cheerful own brand suits if you don't want to over-invest.

When I go to Gozo again I will definitely stay in Marsalforn. It is a lovely little resort.
I was very impressed with the diving there compared to the other Mediterranean places I have been. Fabulous caves, caverns and swimthroughs with some good wrecks thrown in too. All accessible from the shore although some of the entries and exit points do involve some effort.
Plenty of life & coral to see just not on the large side, from my experience.

Marsalforn - Richie, who owns Scubakings, posts on here occasionally as, err Scubakings You'll be fine with him, he runs a small dive centre and therefore you will be in small groups (although they generally tend to be at that time of year) which makes for far better diving.

As Darren said, Marsalforn is a nice resort, and at the moment is a bit chaotic, however come October some of the restaurants will be closing for the end of the season, but there will still be plenty to choose from, and undoubtedly, if it is still open, you will be paying a visit to Bo Jangles, in which case I will probably see you there for a or two

At the end of October the weather will be 'slightly unpredictable' but fine, the water will still be nice and warm, but after sunset you will probably need a fleece, and also take one with you just in case after the dives for if it is windy.

The diving here is great, but then I would say that as I am biased Richie will make sure you get to the right sites as long as they aren't blown out - undoubtedly he will try to get you to the Blue Hole, Inland Sea, Karwella (wreck), Mgarr Ix Xini (scenic), and possibly over to Comino on a boat trip, just as an example of what's on offer.

The critters we get are large grouper, occasional shoaling barracuda (they are babies at the moment), mediterranean moray, small rays - ooh, loads of stuff - I usually manage to find octopus on most dives, and also flying gurnards - and all the normal stuff as well of course, bream, wrasse, damselfish, cardinal fish - the list is long - not huge in quantity, but there all the same.

The caverns and swimthroughs are great fun, especially the Chimney at the Blue Hole, and take a semi decent torch to appreciate the colours of the corals.

Any more questions? Fire away

Sue
