<font color='#000080'>right, i'm sending off my order for my new suit tomorrow - otter cordura ribskin made-to-measure

going on previous advice on this forum i had decided to go for the heavy-duty wellie style boots, but when i spoke to the guy he recommended getting the neoprene lined ones, as they are much comfier and still pretty tough.

and now i don't know what to do! what do you guys think, and more importantly why?

both of the above are different from their bog standard boot.

Kate,
It depends on what sort of diving you do - as always.

If you do lots of hauling RIBS from stoney shallows, walking miles in full kit etc then wellies are the way to go.

If you are a normal mortal - &nbsp;enjoy the comfort.

I have also found that wellies can come adrift from the suit legs which can be a tad of a surprise if you have not noticed before jumping in.

Neoprene boots make it even harder still to avoid floaty feet - give them a miss

hmmm, it's a good point, but i have neoprene-lined boots in my current (neoprene) drysuit and i've never had a problem with floaty feet.

I have wellie type boots on my suit and they have lasted well + I find them very comfortable. I have never had neoprene boots so I can't compare the comfort ratings.

I do know a few people from my club who have had to have their neoprene boots replaced and opted for the wellie style boots (their suits were bought after mine).

Based on my experience (of my one and only ever dry suit) I would opt for the wellies.

Have you phoned Otter and asking for their opinion and to talk you through your worries about the chopices?

<font color='#000080'>come on, 40 people have looked at this thread now, you must have some opinions!

right, issues are:

NEOPRENE LINED

warmer, comfy and flexible, and no extra cost, BUT have less grip when climbing over rocks (which i do on occasion), could possibly more floaty (though i don't have a problem with my current ones), and more likely to break!

HEAVY-DUTY

more grip, tougher, and definitely won't have floaty feet. BUT they will be colder and more inflexible, so not very comfortable. they cost £26 extra, plus i'll probably have to buy extra foot-insulation, and possibly even new fins!

I don't remember paying extra for heavy duty boots but I am sure they don't have neoprene linings, however when I went to try ithe suit on and had another pair of thick socks to hand, the guy in the shop said you will not need those as they are warm enough. &nbsp;Bet this doesn't help at all does it. &nbsp; &nbsp;

I'd go for the heavy duty ones, if you want more warmth wear thicker socks or get some weezle bootees as they're available seperately now (or something very similar to weezle is)

maybe you just had their normal boots? i think that generally both the neoprene lined and heavy duty are extra, but it looks like i'll be able to get the neoprene ones at no extra charge.....

Hi

I bought an Otter Brittanic and opted for the wellington boots over the neoprene. The conflicts were exactly the same as you stated but I decided the extra cost was worth it in the long run, especially as I use mine on the rhib as well as diving. I bought a suit kit and they &quot;threw-in&quot; a pair of wooly bear type booty-socks (as they get them made and probably cost bu66er all). Ask them for a pair, you never know. I've never regretted buying good quality dive kit except when the Barclaycard statement arrives !
