I use the Artics and the top is well figure hugging, or maybe it is just my large muscle bound physique? Nah! the Arctis are tight
I bought the medium size instead of the small size. They are really easy to move in. It's the 4mm neo of my suit that's a bit restrictive!

The ND Thermalskin I can recommend as a summer undersuit. I use it with my 8mm neoprene DS and I'm toasty warm - and I suffer with feeling the cold after ditching around 3 stone of 'bioprene' (love that term!) after finishing uni.

I've recently got a weezle compact and will use this with the thermalskin as a base layer in winter and see what happens. Just got a second hand Otter extreme neoprene DS with a bit more room than my exiting suit, so will see what happens.

Based on a membrane drysuit and the drybase under the PBB how much lead do you reckon I could drop moving from a 5mm Neoprene suit (O'Three MSF 5TB), I will be doing all the neccessary bouyancy checks when I get back in the water anyway as it has been a while, but I'm approx 6 weeks away from getting back in and interested to see how much I could possibly drop.
I dropped 4 Kg going from my Typhoon all in one quilt to 4th Element Extremes. in the same membrane suit. Still working on it and think I may lose another 1 or 2 yet.

I am looking forward to doing some weight checks when the new suit arrives and I'm cleared to get back in the water.

Diving lighter would be an absolute bonus, but I'll have to see how much I can get rid of, I seem to be of a floaty disposition

RRR: 'Thermal Protection' suggested reading

Thought these may be of interest to this thread... The first is an older NEDU report but one of the few documents available. The second is a recent review by Bob Stenton at DUI presented at a Smithsonian/ AAUS Advanced Scientific Diving Workshop.

Insulation, Compressibility and Absorbency of Dry Suit Undergarments.
Sterba, Hanson, and Stiglich. 1989
RRR ID: 4867

Stinton RT. Survey of Thermal Protection Strategies. In: Lang, MA and Smith, NE (eds.). Proceedings of Advanced Scientific Diving Workshop: February 23-24, 2006, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.
RRR ID: 4658

If these were of interest, more on thermal protection can be found in our "Suggested Reading List".

I've taken 5K off since getting the Arctics but it might be cos I am getting more water time as well. another kilo comes off tomorrow and I think that will be abut perfect.
