Appreciating a dry suit

I have a Beuchat suit, 3 years old & on third neck seal, two wrist seals and last week the valve leaked giving my biggest flood yet. Well I can't afford a new one yet so whilst it's being fixed I went back to a wet suit (Oceanic 5+5). BL**dy hell the water was 14șc and I was so cold....Am I being spoilt with using dry suits or what? I didn't think 14șc was cold for wetsuit and was convinced the puter was readin incorrectly.

What are your temp limits before deciding on dry suit?

It's a bit chilly for a 5+5; most people here (including my son) use a 7+7, he was fine down to 8C last year and I was toasty in a 7+7 at 14C here when my seals went a coupla years back.

Water temp here in WA is currently about 16 degrees. I can tolerate this in my 5mm 2 piece with a rash vest underneath and can last about an hour u/w. Any temp below this and its drysuit time. But, TBH its the conditions above the water that make the decision for me, wind, rain etc and the D/S comes out, ( or at least it will when i fix the hole in the wrist seal! ).
Blue skies and sunshine and i prefer the wettie.

Best bring the D/S to Tassie then.

There's a wreck (1974) in this picture, by the way.

UK Diving.....dry suit all year for me!

If the sea temp went up to early twenties I might consider a wetsuit.....but I doubt it!

Yeah, That's the plan. Must weigh my kit and see what i can get in 20kg, Spare pair of keks in the wifes bag, toothbrush in pocket, computer on wrist. I'll probably leave the lead at home though! Can I borrow some of yours?
