Like others, I've used a semi dry without any real problem so far. I have a Scubapro 6.5mm Scotia, and have dived it in February at Horsea in 6 degs C comfortably. However, I think maximum comfort is the name of the game for continued and happy diving, so I bought an Otter at the Dive Show in Birmingham the other week.

On the issue of Welsh diving, Pembrokeshire is great to visit for the family, and also to dive. I dived with Celtic Diving in Fishguard in the summer and enjoyed it very much.

I have just been on holiday to Pembroke, but didn't do any diving. I did however have a scout round to find out about future possible trips. I found our that Celtic diving, based in Fishguard, only do boat dives. There is also West Wales Diving, near Little Haven, and they do both boat and shore diving.

The West Wales Dive Centre is situated in the heart of Pembrokshire

Hello Aerodive,
I bought my Outer Edgs dry suit earlier this year from the manufacturer called Sports Components. Not too bad a price, has never leaked and I have not been cold. They are based in Brecon ( shop-sports-components.co.uk ). Why not go along and arm wrestle them for a good deal!

I am so gay. I dived a 5mm Neo dry suit with 400g DUI undersuit and 5mm semi dry gloves in 6c and i froze my arse off after 45mins.

If you want diving you either have the NDAC (aka chepstow quarry) or for sea diving maybe Swansea but most diving is in West Wales (pembroke etc) which is about a 2hr drive from you.

As for water temperature, the sea was 13c last weekend, quarry 15c 2 weeks before that.

Not sure i can think of an operator that does guided dives but again it depends how far you're prepared to travel. West wales divers MIGHT but im not certain.

South coast of England is about 2.5 hours to get to Plymouth which is about your nearest.

If you need any more information on diving around here, feel free to PM me.
Cheers for the info

Everyone has a different "metabolism" or whatever, also, someone who works outdoors generally handles cooler temperatures better than an office worker

Ebay have loads for sale cheaper than a decent new semi-dry

Just go for the non guchi makes and you can grab a bargain. Poler Bears Hammonds etc are fine suits but not in vogue at the moment so cheep as chips.

Avoid DUI, 03, Protecs and Otter Britannic which are the must have suit at the moment QED they are more expensive on the S/H market.

Dry suit course??? whats that then? Should I do one?

Thats what the 6m ledge at Stony is for

Are you really suggesting that someone with no knowledge buys a dry suit from fleabay?? I've never tried one, wouldn't know what to look for and wouldn't really have that much trust in it. Or my own buying abilities - I could be chucking my money away on something totally unsuitable.

Or the wrong size

Why not ?? get a bit of advice from your local instructor, or ask on here.

I bought my first ever drysuit (Oceanic Panther) from ebay for £100. Used and abused it for 3 years and sold it for £150... Ebay used to be excellent for bargains etc. but is not really that great anymore.

Dont agree with that. Paying 30% over the odds just to get it from a shop is not a good idea.
Support your local shop if its competitive. If its not, don't.
