Thats what I do with mine on my Outer Edge suit, and it works fine, the pull has never come out after putting it there.
The flap is enough to protect the zip, but not much more. And since it is not overly large, it doesn't need velcro to hold it down. Which is all very good except I have a flappy zipper as there is nowhere to stow it.

I have been diving it for two months now and still haven't gotten around to doing anything about that

Yes but if you fold the pull back (it hinges on the zip mechanism with a moveable "paper clip" type thing, yes?) then it will go back the other way and sit under the neoprene flap. Sorted

Ahh, but it is a very movable hinge paperclip thingy, so it doesn't stay put. I suppose I could take a pair of pliers to it and squeeze the sides a bit to make it less likely to move about, but I think I prefer the idea of fitting a bit of velcro to the material pull tag instead.

But thanks for trying.
