Mobility in Drysuit

Fellow YDs, a question.....

Have recently converted to UK diving from being a strictly warm water bear... bought a drysuit from my LDS - as I was not sure about the whole thing I bought a Seac Sub membrane suit which was being sold off from the school. As it is a small it was not very well used and I just needed to service the valves and replace the neckseal. I wear a set of Xerotherms underneath

Anyway... the question.... I have complete mobility in my arms etc... but from the waist down I feel like my legs have been tied together... frog kick is just about manageable (but not my big lazy one!) and getting fins on is a real struggle. I can walk around normally on land and have never felt unsafe diving, just restricted.

Is this normal?
Can I do anything about it without buying a new suit?
Are there any clever tricks for putting fins on?

Might be because I am too fat! The suit is a little snug around the buttocks.

Rich

It sounds to me as though the body might a bit long or the legs a bit short. it is difficult to tell without seeing it.

Now, here's an idea. Put it on, take a pic post it and we will let you know what we think.

Certainly it shouldn't be restricitve underwater, and if it is tricky putting your fins on, try this way:

Stand holding a buddy or other prop on your right. make a triangle with your right leg, using your left knee as support (as though you were checking for something on the sole of your shoe ), put on right foot.

Turn round so that your prop is now on your left, and repeat the triange with your left leg to put your left fin on.

This will also reveal if the legs are too short - you won't be able to lft your foot up easily.
