Thumbs up Undersuit comments please

Yes I know these have been discussed to death but you lot should not give such good advice
I have just got a new made to measure neoprene drysuit, 5mm at torso and 3.5 for arms . Mind you it leaked on the first dive though looks like dump valve needs tightening and supplier did say neoprene is compressing on first few dives .
Want to invest in a quality undersuit , and as suit fits quite well a weezle may be too bulky. Fourth element Xerotherms looking likely and I have had a kit priced at £125. Artics may be too warm for our diving as we usually start in Easter , water around 8 degrees . I don't feel the cold too much and perhaps artics might be too warm on surface .
I heard a good quote on this site about often being too cold underwater but seldom too warm which made me consider artics .
Appreciate any feedback and if any one knows where they are priced better than my existing offer.
Best,
Mal

You could have a look here
Find FOURTH ELEMENT XEROTHERM UNDERSUIT - LARGE on eBay within, Other SCUBA, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 15-Nov-07 22:48:15 GMT)
I have the Arctics and the fourth element technical and it depends on how much you feel the cold
I use the arctics for around now and im always toasty and in the 'hotter' season of Ireland (all one day of it) i use the technical gear
All the best

I have a Northern Diver 4mm suit that is fairly close fitting I change my undersuit through the season depending on water temp and the dive I am doing I find the warmest is my Weazil Extreme but this is very bulky under the suit and not too comfortable, next I have a set of Fourth Ellement Artics these are a little bit bulky, next under suit is a Weazil Compact for 90% of my diving this keeps me warm enougth and is probably the one I wear the most and can be assistesd with a cheap set of Mataland Thermals still giving me room to easily do gas shut downs, next down on the list is an old thin ND undersuit then the Mataland thermals on there own.If I only had to have one under suit I would stick with the Compact. Hope this helps.

Graham.

Just a quick thought here, why didnt you get undersuit when you got measured for your made to measure suit? If you get a bulky undersuit will it not affect the fit of your new suit?

I've been in o2 PBB all year and only just swapped over from their top to my artic one this week, buts thats mainly due to drop in air temp during surface interval between dives its got a bit chilly standing around on the side of a Loch.

I didn't get the undersuit as I already had Reed Chillcheater tee shirt which I found a bit parky on the bare arms on the first dive. Just liked the idea of being nice and toasty. Noticed the LOMO suit which is certainly nicely priced .
What kind of suit do you wear it under ?
I am only 5 ft 4 so wanted to make sure the suit fits properly . I can go to the nearest dive shop and try on the artics , though there is a possibility of trying a weezle compact as well. I am a one tank diver , no technical shut downs required .
The options and opinions out there are endless , and I suppose what works for one will not necessarily work for another.
Anyway , appreciate the replies thus far.
Mal

Flipside,

I am certainly interested and tempted by your Lomo experience . What thickness of neoprene is your suit , and do you dive through the winter.

I might give them a call as it is about half the price of the Xerotherm set I was thinking about .
Where do you dive in Scotland by the way ? Are you on the East or West coast . Thanks for your comments thus far. Mal
