Another P-valve question.

To cut a long story short, Hydrotech are reluctant to place my new p-valve in a position which would mean them inserting it through the suit + the overlay on the leg. One of the solutions would be to have it up slightly higher, making it only 3 and a bit inches from the crotch rather than a usual 4". I know some people have in 6" down, but they are probably taller than me.

What I would like to know is, has anyone successfully put one through the two layers of fabric on a TLS350. I don't want to be leaking from the outside - in. IFKWIM.

Or are there any problems having the run of piping that short. I keep thinking that having minimal tubing would mean minimal tolerance & therefore any little bump in that area could lead to watering eyes.....

are you a goldfish? I recall we had this conversation a while ago. Mine goes through both .... as does Mikes ... no leaks .... Well other than the desired leaks

I think I sent you pics....they did have to get guidance from the US though.

really? I love these senior moment! Prada scarf? In my handbag? Never! I'm 108 you know! What were we talking about? Oh yeah.......

Well, Hydrotech reckon it is not done, no guarantees, etc etc but I just thought 3" was too close, if you know what I mean. So I will take your advice and put it on 5" - because 4" is on the seam of the overlay.

Sorted - right off now to Fight Club (it's Thursday)....

Di

I thought the problem was that Hydrotch double layer their suits near the knees but the outer layer is just punched so the two layers don't adhere and become much stiffer. Are you going through that so the seal is compromised as the middle can fill with water?

I had a similar issue, not with a DUI but a protec suit that has similar layers of fabric. I posted a thread about it on dir-x (will see if I can find it). I put it through two layers with no problem so far.

edit: here Have you fitted a P valve to a Protec Explorer drysuit? - DIR Explorers

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.
