I brought my Beauchat Drysuit on the 11th March 2004 (Day of Madrid Bombings, very sureal experience as the store was in Spain and no one willing to do much work).

I've since done some 200 dives - I can find out howe many exactly later. This winter it was retired.

It cost me €800 + some €120 in repairs. So that is €4.6 per dive or £3.20

I'm quids in!

O3 suit paid 400 for it and fitted 1 set of wrist seals at 60 inc dry glove attatchments and 15 for computer rings to be fitted

so far done 1800 dives in it so I'd say I'm past breaking even!

I have spent over £1250 on two suits in 4 1/2 years the second suit was a free replacment for the first one after it fell apart. In that time I have done about 600 dives I do not think this is good value as I came out wet after quiet a few of these dives. The second suit is now leaking badly from all the seams under the arms and is only fit for the bin. I have now bought an Otter hopefully that will last.

My first dry suit was a ND Vortex and it was a great suit. I done several hundred dives in it and eventualy sold it on here last year after it had lay in the cupboard for the previous year as a spare I never needed. It was still going strong when I sold it and had never needed any sereious repairs, it was well worth the money and considering I sold it again it owes me nothing and the buyer got a suit which will probably last him his dives in pounds, so no quibble there.

The suit I replaced it with was twice the price and a nicer suit, but not as rugged, and I don't ever see me getting a dive per pound out of it. It is a Protec and made of a light material, so it's a looker but far more delicate.

Bugger. I just had a look at the log book, since I brought the Beauchat I used it for 86 dives over three years effectively it'0s €10.7/dive or £7.50. I brought a new MTM from Chris Hammond for £710.00 but expect this one to last a lot lot longer, however Parcel Post express means that a 4 dayr delivery sent on the 12th December is taking somewhat longer - I'm still waiting 3 weeks later!

MTM Otter Britannic about 700 squids

Suit l - new boots, wrist and neck seals and new zip about 100 dives
Suit 2 - didn't fit so no dives
Suit 3 - About 100 dives

So l'm well down at the moment, however if you take into accont that otter made me three mtm suits for the price of 1 l'm not doing to bad at the moment. However it would be nice if even one of the suits was anywhere near a good fit.

The old polar bear cost about 500 squids + zip and seals for approx 400 dives so that mcost me more than 1 squid a dive

My drysuit was a freebie from Hunter which I have had nearly a year.

As I done at least £150 dives in it I owe my drysuit money
