Question Hole in drysuit boot. What to do?

Well i've had a search through a few of the previous posts, and have read that aquasure would sort out a hole in my drysuit boot, but how temporary is this?

The hole is only tiny, but it does mean that my foot is getting wet!!!

I'm a student at the moment and can really afford to be spent to much getting new boots, but if that is the case, and a patch and aquasure is quite temporary!! Then where is the best place to go to get new boots, and what are the best options, ie what sort of boot, or whether these socks and rock boots are worth it.

I had a hole in the seam on the heel of my boot and put a patch on the inside and then filled the seam etc with aquasure and it doesn't leak on me.

its a permanent repair if done with care IMHO

Have you tried straw, dear Alex, dear Alex?

Yep a patch and glue should do the trick.

Thats good to hear i was hoping that it would be more than a temporary repair.

Is it just like patching a puncture on a inner tube or is there a little more to it?

depends on what you use.

I used the proper contact adhesive on the inside patch and did it exactly as instructed on the tin.

then when this was properly dry I covered the inside and outside with Aquasure and let this dry correctly too.

don't forget if its on the sole to put some sand on the outer surface once it has started to set otherwise its a slip hazard

My drysuit boots have styarted to leak, one was a tiny hole in the join between the upper and the sole, the other was due to perishing of the upper along the top of the ankle and foot.

I fixed both with Aqua seal, just dripped it on and then spread it out with the back of a teaspoon, weighting it down so that it laid flat.

I know this isn't much use to you at the moment but I've found that the setting time of Aquaseal is greatly accelerated by leaving out in direct sunlight; I don't know if it's the radiant heat, the U-V acting as an accelerant or a combination of both but it certainly works. I glooped mine in about 29C and intense (as in sunburn of unprotected skin in 10 mins) sunlight and found it was touch dry in about 30 mins - normally takes 3 or 4 hours indoors.

The general coating of the upper has stopped all of the leaks in their tracks and I'm hoping that I'll get another year out of it now.
