Question Fitting Shoulder Auto Dump

Hi guys,

Just wondering if the YD masses could impart yet more knowledge upon me...

Im fed up of using a cuff dump on my drysuit, and was thinking of fitting an auto dump myself,

More specifically, a Si-Tech one, as ive heard rumour they are better than Apeks.

Does anyone know what comes with the valve (e.g. Rubber patch, Glue etc..)

And anyone got some nuggets of wisdom from experience of fitting your own Auto Dump?

Many Thanks

Shaun

Personally I dont like the Si Tech one and have just changed it to an Apeks on my new suit.

They certainly were a while ago, not sure how they compare to the low profile Apeks now but I know the high profile Apeks are reasonably good these days.

You may get the rubber washer, but apart from that it's just the valve I think.

Not in terms of cutting the suit, etc as I've only ever replaced an existing one with a Si-Tech. Depending on the suit type you may need to use some silicone sealant around the valve when you fit it, but then again you may not. Try it without first and see how it goes.

get all your bits through seaskins....they are the cheapest by far... You will also need a 2 part glue which I'm not sure of its name...

Apeks Drysuit Valves

prices here also include P+P i think....

Bit of a hijack, but does anyone know if you can replace the high profile with the low profile straight directly? I.e. is it the same size hole for both?

Oddly enough im thinking of doing the opposite - fitting a cuff dump instead of the shoulder dump on my new seaskin suit!

Echo that and I remember Weazelz pointed out a link on the differences between the 3 vent Apeks low profile (the new one) and the 2 vent and how the new gen (3 vent) are vastly superior.
If anyone can dig out the link from the archive I would appreciate it.
