If not, if it has a flat bottom, it is probably aluminium, and if it has a curved bottom, it is probably steel.

Alternatively, get a magnet. If it sticks, you have a steel one
WOW!!! There's summit new! It's in the cupboard under the stairs, but it has a boot and a round bum (like it's owner) so by your theory it's steel!

Thanks for that!

Steels tend to be far more common than Ali's for ordinary diving in the UK. In a lot of places abroad, they are ali's, which will affest how much weight you need if they use ali's where you are on holiday.

I've been doing some pool sessions and have been using max of 2kg for diving with BCD, cylinder, swimsuit and t-shirt :-). Enjoy :-)

Cheers Anna, for that! Having only every dived dry it didn't occur to me that I could go in in a swimming costume and TShirt! Talk about stoopid! Remove head from sphincter and then think!!!

So as much as your offer is appreciated, I'll be fine in the costume and T-shirt.

i weigh 15 stone 5 `11 tall and in the red sea i dived with 6llb and i thought i could take some off . but it will depend on how experianced you are and and how relaxed you are to start of with, the more relaxed you are the less weight you need .

12l steel Faber dumpy cylinder Julie.

I found in the pool session a couple of weeks ago I didn't need a weight belt at all with a 3mm wetsuit, but I have a wing with a stainless backplate that's fairly lumpy and I've 2 x 1kg weights on the top cam band.

I *think* the backplate is somewhere around 2-3kg, so I was weighted at 5-6kg in total.

I started with a weight belt, but was hopelessly overweight, so removed it.

Hope it goes well

Yes you gave the manual, but that's tucked way back in the cupboard! So much easier asking you!!!
