Neoprene Neck Seal

I wonder if I'm the only one to make this mistake:

I had a MTM drysuit made by Hammond Drysuits. It feels great but upon testing in the pool I was getting wet. I checked it twice in the pool and sure enough water was coming in from the neck.

I had a neoprane neck seal, something I never used before. It's really comfortable but water was coming in. I was about to send the suit off to change for latex. Yesterday though on my first dive of the year I used my wetsuit instead, upon mentioning my dilema to friends they all cracked up with laughter. The divemaster said of the 7 on the boat 3 had done the same mistake.

Apparently with neoprane neck suits you should double it (in the inside), Now are they playing a joke on me or is this correct? I will try it again in the pool when I have a chance but reckon I'd check this out with Ydr's first. I'm not an ignorant git and can't believe I miss this out. As I said to the group - I wasn't taught on this with PADI so can't be correct!

Its not a joke you need to invert it, role it inside about 50 -70 CM so it sits snug

hello

yep, you need to turn over the last 2-3cm ish - I use KY on mine to get a smooth seal. Mine was fitted by hammond and is perfectly watertight

yes, i have a neoprene suit myself which had neoprene cuff seals upon my purchase. i opted to change them for rubber seals as i found that even when you inverted them, i was getting ever so slightly damp...and damp neoprene tends to pong a bit! i learned this lesson at a smelly harbour prepping for a boat dive when my buddy thought it would be hilarious to throw me in the water before i had inverted my cuffs...that was last summer and i swear i can still smell fish guts off my arms...

Er...

You don't invert neoprene cuffs....
Only the neck gets inverted.
If you invert the cuffs you will get wet...
