| Hi Barbel, you'll find with this sort of question that people will recommend what they use themselves... it's human nature I guess. The most important thing is to think about what benefits you want from your suit. I personally chose to dive in a membrane. This is for a few reasons; -They are quicker drying, and I live in a flat so I have to dry my kit inside. -I thought it would be more adaptable as the weather and water temp changes as I can change the under-suit I use to suit. You can do this in a neo suit too, but maybe with slightly less variation. -They are generally easy to repair as it is easy to locate holes in it. -They IMO appear to be harder wearing. -They are (generally) quite flexible if they fit well. There are probably just as many downsides, but those were my reasons. People on here will be able to offer lots and lots of advice, my advice would be to take it in... and then buy which one you think will work best for you. Hope that helps. |

| This subject gets asked ooohhhhhh about once every three weeks, I used to put my twobobsworth in but I give in as now I have membrane/neo fatigue.. My advice is to use the search function, you'll find sh!tloads of threads on the subject.

| Both have their advantages and disadvanges - so much so that I have one of each. I tend now to use the neoprene in the winter, when it's really cold, with dry-gloves fitted. However for the deeper diving I do, I needed so much lead to sink the neo suit, and then so much gas in the wing at the bottom to compensate it got rather annoying. So I invested in a membrane, self-donning number that I wear in the warmer months (with the same thermals as I wear under the neo: 4th element Arctics) which means I can dive with about 4-6kg less weight, which is good for the back. Both are good, if you have the chance to try each one out, then do that and make up your own mind..

| I have had both in the past, however if you ever plan to travel with your drysuit membrane is a lot lighter! John |
