    School Wetsuits

We need to replace some of our school suits.
We've used 'Waterproof' up until now, but are looking about for others.

What we'd like is a 7mm wetsuit, with or without an attached hood that is hard wearing, comes in a wide range of sizes and is cheap

    Suggestions?

Our club got a some very good deals on Northern Dive semi-dry’s for new member at the dive show this year. They look good and everyone is very pleased with them so far....

If they are available in the UK, Paragon make a good suit.
1st rule of diving. Make sure that the number of ascents equals the number of descents.

Of course. I am talking complete and utter balls, you know?

Assuming you are a pro dive school.

    Go drysuit instead.

Extends the season, retains more customers (they wont be cold),
Get to offer drysuit specialties/training and can even sell drysuits.

I know HSE were looking at this a year or two ago after one or two
incidents and many outfits have noe gone dry.

You'll end up doing repairs anyway, so learn how to do it yourself and
charge obscene amounts for retail repairs.

If you are a club, then still go drysuit. We did that about 3 years
ago now and now have about 24. Ebay is your friend

Pretty sure this will be for Brian/Aquanauts.

One reason to stick with wet suits - you don't need to worry about small leaks, and thus have kit out of use while being repaired. Plus the cost of repairs.

I use a 1 piece 7mm that came from Polar Bears, it would do the job nicely I would have thought. Only proplem is last time I tried to get one they only had XXL left. I expect Dave would let you have the supplier details if you wanted to try and get a load of them.

The nerest I've come to finding a replacement is one of these.
Divernet | Diving Gear | SEMI-DRYSUIT  PROCELLA MISTRAL PRO

The other option would be to speak to Lomo. They may be able to make someting that suits.
Lomo Wetsuits and drysuits cost model UK.

If they do make you a 7mm with hood, 1 piece please do let me know as I'd be interested.

Well yeah, but that's kinda missing the potential earning opportunities.

If we say a basic markup of 40% on retail, thats 40% of £150 odd vs
40% of say £400 The best bit is that anybody buying needs
training. Then you factor in the extension to the diving season.
It's not exactky a smart move to stick with wet, no matter how much
hassle the odd leak is to fix.

If you are in a squeezed market, you've gotta use every angle and a LDS
that doesnt use drybags, is IMO missing a trick here.

Now if Brian could get a deal on a certain locally made drysuit with socks, he could then fit out with various sized boots. Big problem with drysuits is foot size is not completely proportional to body size, so you need a larger range. However the cost differential may well be greater than the extra income or profit made from all the additional training.

    Had to post this

Just some of the 24 odd Otters we have. Yes the boots dont always fit,
but that happens with all hire kit.

PS: Apart from a certain YD'er at the back who is hiding in an O3 I believe
