My Relationship Just got a whole lot Better...

Well, I was struggling, things were not "quite right" and there were a few problems...in fact, it was fair to say things were starting to fall apart....

I am of course talking about the relationship I have with my DUI.

When I bought it at LIDS in 2008 it was love at first sight, we were made for each other and a match made in San Diego. But I made a big mistake, I skimped and instead of lavishing money where it was due I went for a smaller option of pocket (Standard Halcyon) and also the standard latex seals. This soon mean I discovered that things were a bit tight in the trouser department (you could not comfortably fit everything I wanted into the pockets) and also when Dry Gloves become desirable I had to fit an after market Rolock system.

Finally, the relationship broke down, a seal popped when I removed a Rolock and things became torn when the pocket failed.

Step in Jim at Amphibian who kindly got everything together and fitted new Zip Seals to neck and wrists, as well as replacing the pocket under warranty with two of the larger "Explorer" pockets. These have been properly stitched and Glued in by hydrotech with "proper" hot glue seam sealing and the whole thing turned round in just over a week.

I have just installed the Zip Seals and and chuffed to bits. The pockets, while being made out of a different material to the originals, are simply huge and it is amazing just how much difference an extra 9" makes (that's Cubic inches for the smutty minded among you).

Have now got to dive it next week in Scapa and while my Polar Bears has stepped in to the breach while the DUI was away, I am really looking forward to getting back into the relationship...

Big thanks to Jim at Amphibian, Much appreciated mate and especially in view of everything. Top man,

These pockets mate - are they "wetter than an Otter's pocket"?

There must be something in the air.

I have already declared my CLX 450 as the love of my life.

I'd like to know how you managed to get yours done in just over a week, when they took 4 to do mine - although i did have the arms shortened. Maybe there were going for the 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' option with me, and they just knew that you, being a bloke, were much more fickle.
Did you get seals as well as gloves? smurfy blue or tango orange?

We'd better not dive together, or there'll be cries of Howard and Hilda

I have a CF200 signature that's 18 months old and I really do like it but it's sprung two leaks. I will send it back in a couple of weeks when I sod off to warmer climes again.

What I really hate are the rock boots, they're crap. I cant seem to finish a dive without 12 inch of laces dragging behind me. The velcro has come off the heal tag and all in all the fastening of them is poor. Why not velcro or a rubber boot fitted in the suit?

My boots are probably the only bit I haven't had a moan about

the velcro tab stays where I put it, and I tie the ends of the laces to the slidey thing. They always stay put

I think rubber boots would offer the potential for too much air in the foot whereas Rock Boots and Turbo Soles are, IMO, far "Tighter"...

You can get a velcro version of hte Rock boots from Otter that are identical to DUI rock boots in all respects apart from the fact you can still do them up when you forget how to tie laces.. However, velcro has a relatively short life compared to Lace ups....

I had rubber boots on my O'Three. The used to fill full of air unless I had several pairs of sock on. I like the rock boots much better.

i thought about turbo soles, but I'm not convinced that they won't get a hole in them if you stood on a rock, and they would also mean that my JF's would be too big.

(Laces don't always last longer than velcro - just ask a schoolboy )

    Doulble that to 34.

The way my son ties them is with an extra twist in the first bit - apparently keeps it tighter.
