Fourth Element or O'Three

Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting a new undersuit but after having Andy Hayhurst plug O'Three gear at me all week i'm now not sure which to go for. So i'll put it to the vote, and let me know why you picked the one you voted for.

Have to go for 4th element for the material and warmth but I reckon the O3 is better thought out with the salopettes and top, also I think it is cheaper IIRC.

What are you wearing it under?

Either could be the right choice depending on what the rest of the setup is.

I have a Fourth Element base layer. Following some advice on a previous thread I have just purchased a Sub Zero Factor 2

http://www.mid.uk.com/subzero/catalo...pe=accessories

If you can wait till after the 28th Aug I will have done some serious in water time with it and I can let you know if its any good. Got a couple of dives to 60ish with in water time around 2-3 hours. I was going to use the Thinsulate over my forth element but I am trying to keep the ability to reach my valves into the winter dives so I opted for the second base layer

Its much cheaper than both the PPB and Fourth Element stuff. First impressions are good but I was a bit disappointed that the socks were foot only with no ankle section. The system is multi layered so you have the benefit of up grading during the winter months.

It would be going under an Otter Extreme Neoprene drysuit

I think the O3 PBB would be better compared with the standard 4th element or even somewhere in between the standard 4th element and the arctic.

The PBB does give an extra layer of material over the chest and back due to the salopettes.

I reckon you might be a tad warm in the arctic most of the year. The PBB sounds like a better match with your drysuit and if you do feel the cold then maybe a second PBB top during the winter.

Lightbulb Decisions, decisions

I bought the O3 PBB set when I got my new drysuit back in February. I have to say that it is the dog's danglies, and kept me very toasty so far from Feb onwards. However, I have to say that I recently bought the 4th Element Arctic top to wear over the O3 salopettes for the coming colder seasons. Dive duration is getting longer now, and so I thought I wouyld try a different combination.

The salopettes design is superb, with extra padding on the spine and kidney area. Tough choice, but I reckon the right choice is a combination.

Any chance we can modify the poll..???

I voted O3 by the way.....

Regards all

Steve

I use an Otter Ultimate comp neoprene with the standaed 4th element sweatshirt, trousers and booties. Oh and M&S vest and undies. Never feel too chilly April - October. Often sweat like a beast on the boat, but hey can't have it all.

Mark hi,

I will be purchasing some extra thermal protection for the winter months and would be very interested in your view regarding subzero. I belive Porg has these items as well. Guess the in water time of 2-3 hours is a very good test.

Thanks

Jamie
