Talking Stoney Carp

Just got back from a dive at Stoney and on one of the dives we stuck between 5-7m swimming back from the galleon. There was loads of life about cray fish, big pike, loads of small fry and the biggest carp I have ever seen! it must have been 30+ lbs. It was about 6m away when I saw it and it looked like a Leather carp although it might have been a Mirror. I know I wasn't seeing thing as one of my buddys also saw it. Has anyone one else spotted this monster?

Ali

Carp

Last year I saw a very pale leather carp, almost beige. It was quite large I think around the 20 mark but it was very round, almost too round. I also saw 2 common carp around the 15 lb mark. Not seen any this year though.

Matt and I saw two very large carp on a dive in february, also in the galleon area. Not sure what species, but one was a darker colour than the other.

Found it again

Found the carp today near to the submerged blockhouse. I am 99% sure it is a leather carp

Why are you not 100% sure then? Have you seen both sides of it and if so does it have any scales?

I have seen a couple of carp in there but I don't recall seeing a leather (near leather maybe).

I'd like to see this fish on YD so someone please take it's mug shot and post it

Regards,

Mark.

No pic

Hi Rod,

I can't see the attached file for some reason. Your post has the Attached Thumbnails box but has nothing to click on.

Regards,

Mark.

Yep, my fault. I'm using Opera and I had it set to block unwanted pop-ups. It must think the pic is a pop-up for some reason.
