    Shetland

Just caught this prog’, normally my preferred viewing is Xicefactordancingonplank face, but hey!

Excellent programme and no ones even gone diving yet, really nice feel of ‘real time’ recording and no staged shots which starts with the wildlife and carries on through.

Think it’s on BBC 2 Thursdays, Shetland Diaries hosted by Simon King; effing gucchi: IMHO.

I almost third it apart from the fact that they had to go and put some bloody melodrama in it. "Will we get the baby back from the childminders in time before the tide comes in" and "Will they make it back down the mountain in time".
It might just be me but programmes such as this don't need it and it's starting to bug me.

..and again; this ticked all the boxes for me, stripped down and straight forward, with only Simon King's enthusiasm for the wildlife there was no gushy ‘off the shelf’ ego driven presenter to get in the way.

Concerns about manufactured melodrama?, if that’s showing that getting a transistor/thingymajig replaced in a camera viewfinder can be undertaken at the local hardware come garden centre, DIY shop; so what.

Brilliant advert for the Shetlands, it’s now on my ‘to do list’, and I’m no twitcher!.

If any BBC producer types look at this site, more of the same please. Well worth the licence fee etc etc.

Caught it last night when they were on Mousa looking for Storm Petrels (which I once heard as having a call like a "fairy being sick backwards" ). Orca are something so awesome to see, I have only seen them twice in four years so I am very jealous! We dive very close to where they were filming the gannets diving into the sea.

Here are a few pics from last year

    Diving Noss Head

Noss pickup with the Valkyrie in the background. We use the inflatible to get divers out from close to the cliffs to be picked up.
