(allegedly, all in theory, according to my source, obviously...) A shame, as it might have been nice to stick an auto-bid with a maximum of say £1000000000000 on each of their auctions...

Top approach Lou. There must be some global/UN/EU/governmental body which might take a keen interest in seeing these people 'change their product lines'?

| Try the state environmental agency; http://www.state.nj.us/dep/enforcement/ and let's write to them informing the distaste and possible illegalities. I can't find an e-mail though. Although I have no time for PETA I thought it was a good idea to inform them. |

| Chris/All http://www.nj.gov/cgi-bin/dep/contactdep_general.pl This link will take you to the general contact page, but it's a start. It appears that any question asked will be forwarded to the relevant department - so at least it gets it in the loop. Like you all, am totally disgusted in the items for sale. Regards, and dive safe Martin [EDIT] Tried to send the following message, but it needs a US Zip code, even though you can seleck the UK as a country! If anyone can send this, either for themselves or me, please do so - re-word if you feel it needs it. Quote:

| Hello Jamie, Thank you for taking the time to write to eBay with a report. I have investigated the sellers items and it appears that he is not actually violating any of our policies. The species of shark that shows up is not considered endangered nor threatened according to CITES. Our policy: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/wildlife.html states that endangered or protected species, or any part of any endangered or protected species may not be listed on eBay. As this is not the case with these items, we are unable to take action. The species that he is advertising for auction is the spiny dogfish which actually features regularly in European diets. You can read more about this at: http://www.wwf.org.uk/news/n_0000000279.asp Thanks again for writing with your concern, and thank you for being part of the eBay community. Best wishes, Andrew Gilbert eBay Trust and Safety Well that was the reply I have just got from Ebay. Looks like there is nothing that can be done from this point of view. What is the next step? Jamie |
