Were the ring pulls "pulled" and the cans full? Seems to me to be a crucial factor in defining the act of throwing the can as nasty or hust thoughtless? Maybe dolphins like lager?

Were the cans thrown at the dolphins or near them to see if they would play with them?

That's where my dad works The aquarium he works in is right on the edge of the (tiny) harbour and this dolphin has been there a couple of weeks now. It won't leave, but there is also and issue in that there are tide gates to keep all the yachts off the mud, so it can't just leave any time it wants anyway.

The cans of lager doesn't suprise me. That area has a high chav-quotient and half the folk that aren't chavs have horses in their back yard on a bit of string.

i think a few cans of lager are the least of its worries with all that sewage and toxic waste drifting by

and if it wasnt performing up to scratch it was lucky it wasnt bottles of piss that were being thrown at it
