| Hi All Had a flyer popped through my door this week for a new Oriental restaurant, menu looked great, if not a little pricey, then I looked again this morning and passed it to my husband who then saw "Shark Fin Soup" as a starter (selling for a measley £5.50). I have contacted Bite-Back, but can anyone else suggest anywhere else that I can inform. I am horrified. I will of course be informing my friends, some of which have already eaten their and like me may not have noticed straight away that its on offer. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Company website is Cosmo Reatsurants Ltd. although it appears to be under constuction.

| Website is working, but I can see no shark-fin soup on their menu. Which brach do you have the flyer for? There is an invitation to contact them with customer feedback, so I would try that and point them in the direction of the Shark Trust and Bite-Back who can give them the low-down on precise figures, but mentioning an approximate 80% decline in shark numbers, almost entirely due to finning would be a safe enough comment.

| shark fin soup hi I suggest you let the Shark Trust know about it (www.sharktrust.org). There has just been a highly publicised campaign against Disney who planned to sell shark fin soup in their Hong Kong restaurants and were made to back down under a huge weight of criticism ("fish are friends not food"!!) If this restaurant is doing anything illegal they will be closed down, but the Shark Trust will be able to advise. I know them quite well, so am happy to help if you want all the best Rob |

| why not contact your local newspaper about it ? save the flier and have info re sharks and illegal finning etc. local reporters are usually hungry for this type of story. [pun NOT intended]. |

| direct and personal action works too - get your friends, family, colleagues who might give a sh1t, etc to write personal letter to the management - or even speak to them face to face - telling them that they won't eat there unless they take it off the menu - give them a positve incentive too though - let them know that if they do take positive action it will mean that you will recognise their efforts and support their business by eating there regularly. the personal touch from local customers / potential customers will have more clout with the manager than a letter from some environental pressure group that the restautrant owners have probably never heard of or are unlikely to ever give a fuck about - as that's what will effect their bottom line sales at the end of the day. if you want to be really smart - get a bunch of peple to book large parties there - get them to go in - sit down - look at the menu - then walk out and tell the management that they couldn't possibly eat anywhere that sold anything as barbaric as shark fin soup - that'll make them take notice

| why don't you just ring the restaurant and ask whats in it ...........its just fish the sharks fin soup is just a name like cat gut is made from horses and sheep not little furry pussy cats and Chinese gooseberries come from New Zealand or thinking about it getting on that high horse and charging off blind sounds good just a thought running down a restaurant chain on a public forum without the facts could make you liable loss of business and all that

| I do NOT condone shark fin soup in any shape or form. I used to live in Japan and it is all over the place there as you can imagine... but.... as was said earlier, often it is just the name, it is not actually shark fin soup at all... basically just fish soup with a fancy name... fingers crossed this is the case here... if not.. shame on them!!!!!! |
