Angry Babbacombe Lumpsucker
I have just heard that some little b@stard of 14 year old kid has speared the Lumpsucker that appears in Babbacombe Bay each year, resulting in all the eggs either dying or being eaten.

Can anybody confirm this?

If this is the case then it is my opinion that this same kid should be speared - just to see how they like it.

It looks like we won't be seeing a lumpsucker @ Babbacombe next year.

It's unfortunate when this happens, but to parap[hrase the old saying, it probably won't be the only Lumpsucker in the sea. They are pretty common, so if a patch is vacant, there'll be another one there before long.

Not that I'm condoning spearing of reef fish though.

I've no idea but their roe is a popular delicacy here in Scandinavia. If you get the chance, try an open sandwich with a sliced hard-boiled egg and a teaspoonful of lumpsucker "caviar" on top. Delicious with an ice-cold Carlsberg or Tuborg!
