It's all about money. The Japanese people really don't want whale meat anymore. It is all about getting back a return on their equipment. Whale boats / factory boats are expensive. You have to get back the money you invested + some profit. The Japanese whaling industry is stubborn as is the government sponsoring this "scientific hunt". |

| Whalers are bad, but they are only the instruments its the polititions that should be getting our abuse, And please dont think i believe whalers are innocent they are not but i presumer that some of them are only doing this to feed thier families. Try telling that to the trawlermen of Aberdeen, Grimsby, Fleetwood..et al......

| According to an article I read yesterday, the Japanese are confident of winning the vote at next month's meeting. If they don't, they threaten to leave the IWC, form a new one and take all the prowhaling nations with them. That would make the IWC a completely meaningless organisation.
