| Not sure if this is in the right heading as it is about eating animals etc. Can anyone tell me the laws regarding what can and can not be taken whilst diving for my own personal consuption (i.e. Scallops, Lobster, Crabs, Fish), or if not, does anyone know the department/agency who would cover this? I would also be interested in spearfishing laws in the UK too (hunting for eating, not for sport). Thanks Tim PS: Had my first two dives in the UK today at 8 Acre and I don't know why it has taken my so long to get started in the UK and realise I was fooling myself in to thinking I was content with holiday diving. Thanks Russ for being a patient buddy.

| As far as I am aware there are no laws. Most boats will not let you catch fish etc. if you aim to sell them on, they would need a commercial fishing license. If you are going to eat them yourself, then, as long as they meet the requirements of defra (see Adrians link), you can take what you like. Hmmmm Scallops, shallow fried in Olive Oil, touch of Garlic, delicious. |
