| and without doubt the fishing industry will claim if theres only 50 years left we'd better increase quota's now so the fisherman can make money before the stocks run out. oh and i forgot the bit where the fishermen claim its all non-sense and everythings really ok. |

| Looking on the bright side, isnt that's 50 years of commercial fishing, there will still be small stocks, presumably eaking out a life on wrecks etc for us to continue to look at, so not all bad news, as long as they can continue to bread and survive with the lower numbers of course. Matt |

| Saw this on Sky News this morning. But they said the report said the stocks would be gone by 2048. Who knows what to beleive, except it is pretty obvious that current fishing trends cannot continue. |

| Would it make sense to kill all the whales that eat all the small fish and plankton and stuff? You know, less predation. Jason

I saw this on BBC World and they said 40 years.... But since the fishing industry is a bunch of greedy uncaring twats its not surprising. I think Soggy is about spot on.... Chris

| a very sad state of afairs but dose this mean in reality that its fifty years till man disapears up his own arse. because boy dose the planet need us to. Mind you we may just about to be heading there in the poor countries of the underdeveloped there going to starve to death. Due to over fishing but to negate that, in the overdeveloped industrial nations obesity is such that the fat lazy gits cant get of there arses to build the ships and equipment needed to plunder the sea so theyl sit there in there own wretched slime glued to their virtual fishing fleet on their playstation 3. and rot away with any luck. untill then our own greed is going to carry on ruining this planet.
