| You're all WRONG It's madness but then maybe not, 'cos us humans are always right Right down to the day we kill off everything great about this planet we call home and why we do what we do i.e. diving. But then, I guess we've forgotten about the privilage of being able to spend our time with the underworld. Ooppps, would that include turtles and the like MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD from a person who'd rather kill off the human race.- now there's a novel idea, I wonder if Tesco's would stock the odd human part or two????? Yours, Neill (the pig) |

If the UK is signatory to C.I.T.E.S. Then TESCO is actually flaunting the laws of its country. So if TESCO were selling canned turtle meat in its UK branches it would be prosecuted at law, in the same way as it would if TESCO decided to start canning whales and dolphins for the Japanese market.

| A general point, I don't think that Tesco selling turtles is a good thing, but veggies aside, I think there's a lot of hypocrisy going on over this issue. Anyone who thinks we have an ethical meat industry hasn't been to an abattoir. It's pretty horrific. 'Free range' farming is often anything but as it sounds and when you're tucking in to that cheap-as-chips farmed salmon, spare a thought for the devastating damage done to our natural salmon stocks by this practice. If you’re interested: The Salmon Farm Monitor Not too many people complaining about these issues. None of this is lost on the Chinese and if Tesco bow out to public pressure in the UK, then someone else will fill their place. In fact, Carrefour have been doing it for years. I went to a store in Kunming, Yunan Province in 2002 and the deli counter was more like an aquarium. |
