what is this fish?

I saw this off of Eyemouth yesterday, just by the by the right of the 2 caves. havent been able to ID it.

has anyone got any idea what it might be?

I would point you in the direction of the cod family - see the lateral line, fin configuration and I think I see a barbel under the lower jaw?

i did think it was a cod at first but it doesnt look enough like one. hmm

Yep, if it did have a barbel under it's chin a cod, (although the head looks a little small in proportion) if it did'nt then I would say a haddock.

Question

How big was it?

Just had a flick thru Debelius Mediteranean & Atlantic Guide & have 3 possibilities:-

30-40cm - Whiting
60-90cm - Pollack
<=1m - Haddock

Looks like a cod, especially with that light coloured lateral line. Did it have an overhanging upper jaw or long chin barbel?

Its dinner!

Actually, thats not dissimiler to a couple of fish I saw on the White Nothe Landing Craft at the weekend so I am cruious too. We were thinking cod or whiting.
