I hadn't even got into the Common Fisheries Policy and the world of the weird and illogical. Stripped out your target fish don't worry next year we'll increase your quota to compensate, hardly find any target species don't worry we'll increase the quota's for their prey fish instead. Worried about over fishing in your territorial waters don't worry go and fish in someone elses.
I think my favourite truly astounding piece of policy was for one species of fish that had been fished and stocks down by 90%, the sceintists found the species had shown a 10% recovery in a couple of years, the fishing industry quoted this as justifiction for continued fishing, what they failed to realise was this was a 10% recovery of the remaining fish ie 1%, so the stocks were now only down 89% but thats ok.

- I'M GONNA GO GET ME A VEGETARIAN!!!

Seriously though, it's fine, just obey the laws and is actually morally very straight.

I think i need to state that the last comment in my post that read "And as far as over-fishing an area goes, We make sure we only go to a certain area for a limited time and then not again for several months to let the population grow back again, But unfortunately this cannot be said for all the boats up here " was meant as a tongue in cheek comment, and does not to my knowledge actually go on, So if all the people that contacted me trying to get boats names and numbers "chill out" and realise that this is diving forum not the spanish inquisition!
