Thats where we differ. One of the 'great pleasures' of diving for me is seeing a giant lobster, marvelling at it, and then leaving knowing that when I come back to this dive site I might be lucky enough to see it again. Not removing it for the purpose of one tasty meal when that lobster, if left alone, could bring enjoyment to a multitude of divers time and time again. its a case of opportunity cost, and I reckon leaving it be wins out.

Totally agree.......... leave well alone.

I also think lobster is totally overrated as food

That is a poor attitude - just leaving it! - you should have hidden it from Milldog!

Nope - better off in a pan. If you give them too much freedom they end up tinkering with your Mrs in the bath.

With regards to your diving, obviously if you're trying to get into a wreck and there's a big lobster in your way then the best thing to do is shove it in a goodie bag where it cant be a nuisance anymore
Thats like saying Alf Garnett was brought up to be a racist so its OK for him.
You are back peddling with gusto and your response makes no logical sense. Say what you think and don't be backing down because someone disagrees with you.
We are entitled to say what we feel and it's OK for others to have different opinions.
For the record i don't usually catch but have no problem with those that do. I would if i had the chance at a decent sized lobster and intended to eat it.

See, threads like this make me feel like a hypocrite. I dive mainly to see the wildlife and haven't been diving long enough not to get thoroughly overexcited whenever I see a lobster/scallop/crab/pebble/whatever.

I also love the taste of seafood...all seafood. I couldn't bring myself to catch and prepare it, but am more than happy to eat my own bodyweight in lobster or crabmeat if someone else does the dirty deed.

Fair enough, I can see it looks like I'm doing a moral U-turn but I assure you i'm not. I have made my opinion clear in subsequent posts and do not condone or support the taking of lobsters by divers.
