Thresher Sharks

Just a quick rant!!!

I have just watched 'Look North' and they have featured a sort of 'and finally piece' which was a photo of some fishermen who had caught a Thresher Shark off the coast of Filey in Yorkshire.

Did they mention it's beauty? Did they mention that in Summer they are found off the Canadian Atlantic Coast? Did they mention the monumental journey it must have made? Did they mention the plight of not only sharks but general marine life??

NO!! They had a bloody good laugh and said 'it isn't a man-eater'!!!!! - Well if they did their research properly they'd know that we're not that tasty to sharks!!!

With attitudes like this in the media is it any wonder that people do not know how endagered marine life is!!!!!!!!!????!!!!

Ps - I've felt the need to email my rant to the BBC!!!!!!

Thresher were common on the East Coast until the fishing industry decimated the herring stock.

I don't suppose they said that either?

Don't get me started on the media and the whole issue of dumbing down.

Either I'm getting older and wiser or the BBC news is getting more and more like a childrens programme every day.

Today Children we're going to look through the round window. What can we see? Oh look children it's Iraq.
