Dog Pack Attacks Alligator in Florida.

Nature is hard

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the "apex predator", can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and "survival of the pack mentality" bred into the canines.

See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog then attacks the soft and vulnerable underbelly of the unfortunate gator.

Not for the squeamish

Talking

I was sucked in soooo much by this :-)

I have just returned [to Palm Cove, Cairns] from a working 2 weeks to a community on Cape York, Far North Queensland, where dog attacks are taken fairly seriously!!!

These guys are pussy cats------------err, sorry you pups :-)

Take on a salty [estuarine] croc, and I'll be even more impressed!!

Well done Milldog, cheers, Malcolm.

Nature or not one has to ask Graham if this sort of graphic imagery is really necessary? Its clear from the photo the reptile is merely a juvenile and stood little chance against the marauding pack. To be honest it turns my stomach... what will be next - bear hunting perhaps?

here you go

Two men went bear hunting. While one stayed in the cabin, the other went out looking for a bear.

He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it. The enraged bear charged toward him, he dropped his rifle and started running for the cabin as fast as he could.

He ran pretty fast but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step.

Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin.

The man jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to his friend inside, "You skin this one while I go and get another one!"

Two guys stumble on a large grizzly and its clearly mad and ready to charge. One guy throws off his back-pack, pulls out a pair of Nike trainers and starts pulling off his heavy hiking boots. His mate turns to him and says,"There ain no use... that bear can outrun any goddam man on earth"

The first guy continues pulling on his Nike's and replies, "I aint aiming to outrun no grizzly... just you!"
