| Just a few minutes back I sat right here at the keyboard, by the window, wending through the posts of YD when a BIG snake slithered across the lawn outside. Can anyone identify the species? It was; about 1.3m in length, very slender (yeah I know snakes aren't exactly fat but this was quite thin) with a grey-green under belly. The head looked yellowish, its back was almost black and two white-ish stripes ran from the back of its head right down the length of its body. Not exactly an underwater/diving related thread apart from the fact I was on YD at the time. Oh, should add that this is Thailand and he/she is still under the bush just over there...... so watch where you tread! EDIT; Just seen him/her again and the head is actually kind of brown-ish as is the tail-end. Berko

| Sounds like an ingredient for a tasty soup. Cut head off first before chucking it in the pot to be on the safe side! ![]()

| Bearing in mind how many varieties of poisonous snakes there are in thailand, I'd just identify it as a "dont f**k with me snake" and steer clear. |

I favour the long handled shovel approach if it's in the garden, it works every time and they are all poisonous here, we don't have any non-venomous species, the only thing that varies is how long you have to live. Out in the scrub though, I leave em alone.
