Silly of me to take any thread seriously - but my guess is that its a sea cucumber with the body buried in sand and the mouthparts extended.

well knowing what heppens to a seacucumber when it gets picked up, I am rather surprised to hear they may bury themselves. i thought they must like it

pretty sure its a sea cucumber - they have had one on the series about Indonesia since this was first posted.

I shall go for a big ol fgiant tubeworm/animal thingy. I am sure some can move to where the currents are. Purely a guess mind.
