Solved: Colga Pacifica

As apparent it's a large nudie. Found in one particular site (where I find my crayfish and sea-spiders) around 69N and apparently nowhere else? I have checked with Norwegian biologists and they haven't come up with an answer...

Have you tried asking on the Sea Slug Forum?

Had a quick look through that site and found this possible?

Colga pacifica

but I'd suggest asking on there.
Simon

Digging around via google I also found mention of:

Colga villosa is only recorded from Bellsund at Svalbard. It is similar to C. pacifica, but the papillae along the reduced mantle rim and dorsum are thicker and more elongated. The radula is identical to the one of C. pacifica. See Just & Edmunds (1985) for recent comparisons.

Any use?

Well it certainly looks similar...
Unfortunately it seems the seaslugforum is seizing up. There's an explanation why somewhere on the site but in any case it seems he'll just answer the backlog...

Apparently the guy who runs the site used to receive funding as part of his job to manage the site and answer questions - that funding has been removed and he's now having to do it in his spare time, so a backlog's building up.

Well in any case it seems what we've found is the Kolga Pacifica. Of course it would be cool if it really was a Villosa, since it is previously only found in Spitzbergen, but I guess they know what they're talking about.

I live 110 nm north of Bodø, which is as far south as the Pacifica is registered.

Thanks a bunch for your help Simon,

Kyrre

Can't help you with your nudes but have a question: How did you get your pictures to be so big, on an earlier posting the largest I got was thumbnail size. Am I uploading them from the wrong place? Better still where are you uploading yours from?

Hey Chris

I'm using www.photobucket.com. Read my tutorial on "biggest filesize" started by Julia C in the UW-photo forum. That should do the trick

Good luck

Kyrre

When I clicked on the thumbnail, it showed it full size.
Regards, and dive safe
