May do some good ?

Although I am not a BSACer, I was sent this anyway by someone who is. I dont know if it is a waste of time, but I completed it anyway. Maybe some of you would do the same, I cant see it doing much harm, and could help ? To be honest, I suggested that they try to replicate/ learn from St Abbs rather than create a commercial set up and beurocratic bumblefest .....

" I am carrying out an MSc dissertation on the feasibility of creating
a permanent Marine Sanctuary (no-take) Zone around the Scylla Reef in Whitsand Bay, Cornwall. As part of this project I would like to
survey the opinions of a reasonably large number of recreational divers throughout the country and so have designed an online survey. Mark Mumford (who kindly created the webpage for my survey) suggested that you may be able to help me with making BSAC members aware of the webpage. Would it be possible for you to send out an email to all the BSAC
Area coaches all over the country and ask them to send the details of the
web address on to their branches?

I am working to a very tight schedule, so the quicker I can start downloading completed surveys the more analysis I will be able to carry out. Please could you let me know if you are able to help? This would be an enormous help to my project, which hopefully will aide the protection of the UKs marine life and result in a better diving experience on the Scylla Reef.

I don't suppose it could do much harm if you live in Lancashire but it won't be much fun for the locals if they can't get food off it. At least it keeps you grockles away from the J.E.L, which gives us half a chance.

My response was intended to be that a marine nature reserve in a defined area is a good idea.

I cant see it working if it stops local fishermen plying their trade, but can see the sense of divers leaving critters for the next diver to see. Especially if they drive down from Lancashire.

But having said that, why should we pay for the priviledge ?

In fact - like St Abbs.
