    Exclamation Sharkwater - Worth Watching!!!

Picked this up going through HMV on way to work this time, just finished watching this DVD and Im at a complete loss to be honest.

It's fantastic. The guys sheer passion on the subject shines through. Its also hard to believe the levels of corruption that are supporting this multi-million dollar industry and also the lack of education when it comes to these animals, especially in regards to how we are blindly annihalating them without any thoughts to the consequences.

I was down in Hurghada last month and one of the dive guides there is also doing a study on the oceanics and is very pasionate when it comes to Shark conservation. Watching this has re-inforced all they said.

I know there have been a couple of other posts on this in the past on here but the pick up on them has been very low.

Most of us love the privilege of being able to observe them in all their magnifecence when we get the privilige of but its dis-heartening to think of how rapidly there numbers are declining.

After watching I went for a look round their website and made a donation as they are trying to launch an edition of this in the chinese market where there is really no education on the shark culling going on in the name of finning.
Im maybe lucky enough to be in a position to make a donation when others might not be able to with current economic situation, but most places on the net are selling this DVD for 4 quid delivered.

For the price of a couple of pints, this is really worth watching, It's an honest, passionate movie that might open a few eyes, not just for the divers here, but let others watch it too.

Can second all the above, but it will sadden all those that watch Sharkwater, it is the sheer number of creatures being slaughtered just for fins that will take your breath away, all for a delicasy that i believe has no flavour of its own, the chinese need serious re education !

The absolute numbers being slaughtered are heart breaking.
The ignorance surrounding it though is appalling.
Politicians and decision makers, when surrounded by incontreversable truths, decide to ignore all for the sake of corruption, its sickening, and beyond criminal, but because it is in the seas noone seems to care.

I knew what was going on from other high profile campaings, but not before watching this did I come close to comprehending the sheer magnitude of the slaughter.
As a race we are destoying the earths OLDEST guardian of the planet for some Fc*king soup!!!!!!
How does no one understand this is completely insane.
The ocean is fragile well beyond our current comprehension yet we continue as a race to brutalise and rape it believing it is not our problem.....

    Absolutely heart breaking....

    (Sorry. Rant over....)

I wasn't to sure what to expect but was completely blown away by it. Should be compulsorary viewing for anyone with an interest in the marine environment.

I was sickened by the way the sharks were just thrown back into the water to drown, after having their fins removed. The sheer scale (in excess of 100 million sharks per year) is beyond my comprehension!

All this to satisfy the Chinese demand for something that has no taste. They usually add chicken stock to give it flavour!

My copy of Sharkwater has been going around my club and so far everyone who's watched it has had the same reaction.
